Introducing Family Matters Counselling Services (FMCS), a psychology and counselling practice situated on the eastern side of Brisbane in Carina. FMCS gives you access to both Registered Psychologist and Registered Counsellor. Our experience, integrative and passionate approach to therapy ensures we can provide you with a higher standard of care and support.

Tracey Coombes, the owner of Family Matters Counselling Services, brings a wealth of knowledge combined with real-life experience both in a personal and workplace sense, as well as a burning passion for supporting others. Tracey absolutely loves working with children, right through to adults to support a stronger family unit and believes that the counsellor-client relationship is a lifelong one.

Meet Gracyn, a psychologist with valuable knowledge about how the body interacts with the mind.

B.Psych(hons), MAPsych (Sport & Exercise)

Gracyn Bower has a passion for supporting people with eating, physical activity, weight and body image concerns and disorders.  Gracyn brings a wealth of experience having worked in the fitness industry for many years alongside her studies and work with clients in this area.  She is experienced working with people who struggle with chronic pain, injury rehabilitation, sports performance and other general mental health concerns.

Therapy Modalities

Tracey is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focussed and Mindfulness based techniques.  Tracey uses a strengths based integrated approach adapted to suit the need of her clients.

 

Gracyn uses a person centred approach drawing from a diverse range of evidence-based testing and therapeutic frameworks including:
  • CBT
  • ACT
  • Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Compassion Focussed Therapy
